When a psychologist told me I was in an abusive relationship, I felt shock. She said rather bluntly, “I’ve been treating patients for 35 years, both men and women. I am a Mexican woman. I know this culture. What you are describing is abuse. He’s not acting like this because “his brother is sick and dying.” He’s cheating on you.

I refused to believe her. I did not want to believe her. Now, her piercing accuracy haunts me.

I confronted Allan about being abusive. He was incensed.

The dramatic denial was my first clue.

Allan is simply gross.
